Tugan Sokhiev to Conduct Vienna Philharmonic’s 2027 New Year Concert
The Vienna Philharmonic has confirmed that renowned conductor Tugan Sokhiev will lead its prestigious New Year’s Concert in 2027. This announcement marks a significant moment in the orchestra’s ongoing collaboration with Sokhiev, which began in 2009 during a tour in Seoul.
The relationship between the orchestra and Sokhiev has blossomed over the years, featuring numerous performances at subscription concerts in Vienna and international venues. In 2025, Sokhiev conducted both the Summer Night Concert and a gala event commemorating the 200th anniversary of composer Johann Strauss, Jr..

In a statement, Daniel Froschauer, chairman of the Vienna Philharmonic, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming concert.
