Gera MX Set to Release New Music Following Historic Success

Mexican rapper Gera MX is preparing to unveil new music following a period of reflection and creativity. Known for his hit tracks such as “Botella Tras Botella,” which made history as the most-viewed official music video in Mexican rap history, Gera MX aims to harness his past experiences and cultural influences in his upcoming work.

Born as Gerardo Daniel Torres Montante in Monterrey and raised in San Luis Potosi, Gera MX attributes his musical inspiration to a diverse range of artists, including Molotov, Control Machete, and Shakira. He described his introduction to rap as a turning point during a challenging period in his life. In an interview with The Mirror US en Español, he shared, “Rap came into my life around a tough time, and I learned that I could say everything I wanted to say. There weren’t any rules.”

Gera MX focuses on authenticity in his music, emphasizing that he draws from his own life experiences. “I try to rap about what I live. I want my fans to think, ‘Well, if he could, I can,'” he stated. This commitment to genuine storytelling resonates particularly with younger audiences who admire his journey.

In 2019, he co-founded the label Rich Vagos with fellow rappers Bipo Montana, Jay Romero, and Team Revolver. Following a legal battle that resulted in a name change from Gera MXM to Gera MX, he has continued to forge his path in the music industry.

The collaboration with Christian Nodal on “Botella Tras Botella” marked a significant moment in his career, further solidifying his status in the Mexican rap scene. Reflecting on this achievement, he expressed, “It is crazy to know that we made Mexican rap history, like if I went on the highest rollercoaster.”

As Gera MX prepares for his next project, he assures fans that his “silence” is merely a sign of hard work behind the scenes. He plans to collaborate with artists such as Calle 24, Alemán, and Nanpa Básico. Notably, he has long harbored a desire to work with Eminem, a dream he has nurtured for over 20 years.

He emphasized that this new album is about personal expression rather than commercial success. “I did that already. I had to constantly fight to make it to where I am today, and this album is more my style. I am having fun with this one,” he explained.

While new music often leads to tours, Gera MX, like many artists, faces challenges related to touring in the United States. He postponed his tour this year alongside Alemán, citing concerns for audience safety amid fears surrounding immigration enforcement. “This affects society, with people being scared to go to a concert,” he said. “We did not want to play here because it would be hard sleeping knowing that you did a show and they captured someone.”

As Gera MX prepares for his next chapter, fans eagerly await what promises to be an exciting evolution in his music career.
