The Los Angeles Clippers showcased their strength in the second half, defeating the Portland Trail Blazers 119-103 on March 15, 2024. This victory marks the Clippers’ third consecutive win, bolstered by standout performances from their key players.

James Harden was instrumental in the win, scoring 34 points and contributing significantly to the team’s offensive strategy. Meanwhile, Brook Lopez made a remarkable impact, hitting a career-high nine 3-pointers and finishing with 31 points. Kawhi Leonard, who scored 18 of his total 28 points in the fourth quarter, also added eight rebounds, six assists, and three steals. The Clippers’ efficiency was evident as they shot 50% from beyond the arc, making 20 of 40 attempts, and converted 29 of 31 free throws.

The game turned decisively in the Clippers’ favor during the second half, where they outscored the Blazers 63-41. The momentum shifted dramatically after a pivotal 19-1 run in the third quarter. Following a free throw by Donovan Clingan that put the Blazers ahead 71-59, the Clippers seized control of the game.

Lopez’s seventh 3-pointer began a scoring spree that led to a technical foul against acting Blazers coach Tiago Splitter. Leonard capitalized on the free throw opportunity, reducing the deficit to 72-68. Harden then tied the game at 72 with a driving layup, and Lopez’s eighth three-pointer gave the Clippers their first lead of the night at 75-72.

The Clippers continued to build their lead, with Harden executing a four-point play late in the third quarter, bringing the score to 85-77. Leonard’s athleticism was on display with a powerful dunk that pushed the lead to 95-86.

Despite a late surge from the Blazers, the Clippers maintained their composure, executing a six-point possession that expanded their advantage to 101-88 with just over eight minutes remaining. Portland’s Deni Avdija led his team with 27 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, but it was not enough to overcome the Clippers’ second-half dominance.

Looking ahead, the Clippers will host the Detroit Pistons on March 17, 2024. The team aims to continue their winning streak and build on the momentum generated from this decisive victory.
