UNITS® Partners with Toys for Tots to Enhance Holiday Support
UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Southwest Florida has taken significant steps to assist Toys for Tots of Sarasota by providing essential storage solutions for the upcoming holiday season. This initiative was prompted by an urgent community need highlighted in a local news segment on ABC News 7.
Upon learning about the challenges faced by Toys for Tots, the UNITS® team reached out to Desiree Jennings, the Sarasota County Director for Toys for Tots. In their discussions, it became clear that the organization required both temporary and long-term storage solutions to effectively manage toy distribution during the holiday season and throughout the year.
Zach Easton, co-owner of UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Southwest Florida, emphasized the critical nature of the situation, stating, “Without adequate storage, it becomes incredibly difficult to sort, distribute, and manage the thousands of toys that bring joy to local children each year.” Recognizing the pressing need, Easton and his business partner, Albert Seecharan, devised a plan to donate several portable storage units to support Toys for Tots operations.
Key Contributions to Holiday Distribution
The donated storage includes a total of eleven UNITS® strategically placed across various locations to facilitate the distribution of toys. The contributions are as follows:
– Seven UNITS® located at Eagles in Sarasota for holiday toy distribution
– Two UNITS® at the Elks Lodge in Venice for holiday distribution
– One UNIT at American Legion in North Port for holiday distribution
– An additional UNIT at American Legion in North Port designated for year-round storage
– Two UNITS® at the Palmetto warehouse for year-round storage
These efforts aim to ensure that toys can be securely stored, organized, and efficiently distributed to families throughout Sarasota County during the holiday season.
Despite this substantial support, Toys for Tots of Sarasota continues to face challenges. The organization is currently seeking at least 5,000 square feet of donated warehouse space to serve as a sorting and receiving facility for the upcoming 2026 Toys for Tots season, which will run from September through December.
Easton expressed hope that by sharing this initiative, other businesses or property owners might feel compelled to contribute, just as they did after seeing Jennings’ story. He stated, “When local businesses partner together, the impact on our community can be tremendous.”
Commitment to Community Support
UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage of Southwest Florida is committed to supporting local initiatives and encourages other organizations to join in this vital mission. Their collaboration with Toys for Tots aims to ensure that every child can experience the joy of the holiday season.
UNITS® Moving and Portable Storage provides flexible and secure portable storage solutions for both residential and commercial customers throughout Southwest Florida. As a locally owned and operated business, they prioritize community engagement and support, aligning with the mission of Toys for Tots, a program of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve that distributes toys to children in need during the holiday season.
