New Coastal Café Playa Kitchen Set to Open in La Jolla March 2026
A new coastal-inspired café called Playa Kitchen will soon open its doors in La Jolla, California. Operated by Clique Hospitality, the café is set to launch on March 18, 2026, at Torrey Pines Science Park. With a focus on a chef-driven menu that caters to the local community, Playa Kitchen aims to create a unique dining experience that blends work and relaxation.
The café will feature a spacious layout overlooking the Torrey Pines Golf Course, offering both indoor and outdoor seating. Guests can choose to enjoy their meals in a 40-seat dining room, a 17-seat bar lounge, or a 1,100-square-foot patio that accommodates up to 28 guests. The patio is designed to serve as a flexible extension of the main dining area, providing a seamless transition from casual coffee to more formal lunches.
Innovative Design and Community Focus
According to Andy Masi, founder of Clique Hospitality, Playa Kitchen is designed to reflect contemporary work and social habits. “Playa was created to reflect the way people work and connect today,” Masi stated. “More than just a place to dine, it’s an elevated, design-forward café that feels both productive and restorative.” The café aims to be a destination where individuals can transition effortlessly from morning coffee meetings to working lunches, all while enjoying a coastal atmosphere.
In addition to its inviting ambiance, Playa Kitchen will offer delivery through its website and popular third-party apps such as DoorDash and Uber Eats. Beer and wine service, along with happy hour offerings, are expected to be introduced later in the year. The café will also provide free on-site parking for its patrons.
Menu Highlights and Pricing
Playa Kitchen will emphasize seasonal, locally sourced ingredients in its menu, which includes a variety of breakfast and lunch options. Breakfast offerings will feature dishes such as the vegetable and egg Think Tank Bowl priced at $17, a ham, cheese, and egg croissant for $14, and an acai bowl also priced at $14.
For lunch, the café will serve an array of salads, bowls, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, poke bowls, and fish tacos. The beverage menu will include craft coffee, teas, fresh juices, and smoothies, with brewed coffee starting at $2.50 and specialty drinks ranging from $2.50 to $4.50. Fresh juices will start at $6, while smoothies will be priced between $10 and $12.
With its coastal-inspired design and thoughtfully curated menu, Playa Kitchen is poised to become a relaxing yet refined addition to the La Jolla dining scene. It promises to be a convenient spot for morning coffee and casual lunches, appealing to both local residents and visitors alike.
