H.A.L.O. No-Kill Rescue Hosts Woofstock Fundraiser for Senior Dogs
Animal enthusiasts in Indian River County are invited to attend the upcoming Woofstock fundraiser, a charity event dedicated to supporting senior rescue dogs. Scheduled for 1-4 p.m. on March 7, 2024, the event will take place at Pareidolia Brewing Company in Sebastian. Proceeds from the fundraiser will directly benefit older dogs in need of homes, with donations matched up to $25,000 by the Doug McDowell Memorial Fund.
Participants can expect an afternoon filled with live music from the acoustic duo HairPeace, alongside food provided by Off The Hook Food Truck. Attendees will have the chance to interact with adoptable senior dogs, providing an opportunity to find these animals forever homes. The event will also feature raffles offering exciting prizes, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
Honoring a Legacy Through Animal Rescue
The Doug McDowell Memorial Fund was established in memory of Douglas N. McDowell, a passionate animal advocate who passed away on December 5, 2018, at the age of 66. His wife, Cheryl Trotta, created the fund to continue his legacy of supporting older rescue animals that are often overlooked for adoption. The fund aims to ensure that these senior dogs receive the care and love they deserve.
For those unable to attend the event in person, online donations are welcome through H.A.L.O. No-Kill Rescue’s website, and these contributions will also qualify for the matching funds. H.A.L.O., established in 2006, has successfully rescued thousands of animals through its no-kill policy, focusing on finding loving homes for hard-to-place pets, including senior dogs and cats.
Previous Success and Future Goals
The organization achieved a remarkable milestone last year, meeting its goal of $25,000, ultimately raising $50,000 for its senior residents. This year’s Woofstock fundraiser aims to replicate that success, continuing to provide essential support for these deserving animals.
For more information about the event or to make a donation, please visit halorescuefl.org or call (772) 589-7297. Your support can make a significant difference in the lives of senior dogs seeking a second chance at happiness.
