Cox Mobile Unveils 22 Teen Finalists in Annual Design Contest

Cox Mobile has announced the selection of 22 finalists from around the United States in its second annual Phone Case Design Contest. This initiative, organized in collaboration with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, invited high school members to create phone case designs centered on the theme “A World Within Reach – Future Icons.”

Among the finalists is Sara from the United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County. Her artwork reflects her desire “to be kind and make the world a better place,” as stated in her artist statement. The finalists were chosen based on their creativity and adherence to the contest theme, showcasing the artistic talents of youth across the nation.

Later this spring, a panel of judges will determine the grand prize winner, who will receive a scholarship of $25,000 and a $25,000 technology grant for their local Boys & Girls Club. The judging panel includes notable figures such as Mario Lopez, a Club alumnus, and Ximena, the National Youth of the Year for 2025-2026.

Kirsten Mclaughlin, the Santa Barbara Market Vice President for Cox Communications, emphasized the company’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of creators. “We’re thrilled to celebrate Sara’s achievement and the remarkable talent emerging from our community,” Mclaughlin said. “Our contest provides a platform for young people to express themselves and explore their passions.”

Sara celebrated her achievement with fellow club members during the Annual Awards Night, where she received a Tech Package from Cox that included an iPad, Apple Pencil, and wireless headphones.

Public Voting for Fan Favorite Award

In addition to the grand prize, the public is invited to vote for the Cox Mobile Fan Favorite Winner. This winner will also receive a $25,000 scholarship and a $10,000 technology grant for their local Club. Voting is currently open until February 28, 2026, and participants can view the finalists’ artwork and cast their votes daily at http://www.cox.com/phonecasecontest.

Colleen Langner, Executive Vice President and Chief Residential Officer of Cox Communications, highlighted the importance of recognizing and supporting youth potential. “Every teen has the potential to become a future icon – and that journey begins by being seen, heard, and supported,” she remarked.
