Lia Jones Seeks Change to Child Custody Agreement After Divorce

Lia Jones, a star of “Married to Medicine: Los Angeles,” is pursuing a modification to her child custody arrangement following a contentious divorce from Colin Dias. In newly filed legal documents, which have been reviewed by TMZ, Jones is requesting a 50/50 legal and physical custody agreement to allow her more time with their two children.

Jones claims that while Dias is meeting the children’s financial needs, he has been neglecting their emotional well-being. She describes her relationship with the children as loving and supportive and asserts it is stronger than ever. The custody dispute has escalated after Dias relocated the children to Lake Elsinore, California, a move that Jones contends was made to distance them from her.

She reports making the lengthy 4-hour round trip from Los Angeles several times each week to maintain her connection with the children. In her documents, Jones reveals troubling incidents concerning her son, who has faced multiple detentions for fighting at school. She also mentions that concerning messages indicating suicidal thoughts were found on his phone, which she asserts Dias was unaware of.

Under the terms of their divorce settlement, Dias was granted sole legal and physical custody. This arrangement followed a restraining order and required Jones to maintain a clean record for a year, during which she has worked diligently to improve her situation. Jones has completed a 52-week domestic violence course and participated in therapy, along with parenting and anger management classes. After three years of monitored visitations, she is now seeking a revised custody agreement that would increase her access to her children.

The court has mandated that both parties participate in mediation to address the custody issues. A hearing has been scheduled for May 2024, where Jones’s request for an updated custody arrangement will be formally considered.
