Beloved Nurse and Educator Theresa Stuccio Grabo Passes Away
Theresa Nancy Stuccio Grabo, a respected nurse, educator, and cherished family member, passed away on October 2, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and dedication. Known for her profound loyalty to her family and her commitment to the nursing profession, Theresa’s contributions to healthcare and education will be remembered by many.
Born into a loving family, Theresa dedicated her life to serving others through her work as a nurse. She graduated from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital School of Nursing and earned a Ph.D. in nursing education from the University of Pennsylvania. At the height of her career, she became a beloved professor at the Binghamton University’s Decker School of Nursing, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the Doctor of Nursing Practice program.
In addition to her academic achievements, Theresa also practiced nursing privately, providing holistic care to her patients. Her approach to healthcare extended beyond clinical expertise; she emphasized the importance of caring for one another, a lesson she instilled in her family and students alike.
Theresa shared a profound partnership with her husband, Daniel Grabo, with whom she celebrated 54 years of marriage. Together, they raised two sons, Daniel Grabo Jr. and Michael Grabo, fostering a home in Pittston, PA filled with love and cherished Italian traditions. Theresa’s role as a grandmother brought her immense joy, as she doted on her three grandchildren: Daniel III, Anthony, and Camilla.
Her home was characterized by warmth, laughter, and a deep sense of faith. Theresa’s unwavering Catholic faith was a guiding force in her life, shaping her values and practices.
Theresa is survived by her sister, Rose Marie Andrush, her brother, Fred Stuccio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Serafino Stuccio.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to Allied Services Hospice and the caregivers who provided compassionate care during her final days. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor can be made to the HealthWell Foundation, located at 20440 Century Boulevard, Suite 250, Germantown, MD 20874.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday, October 6, at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Marello Roman Catholic Parish, located at 237 William Street, Pittston, PA 18640. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church on the day of the funeral.
