The 16th annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards took place in Los Angeles on March 4, 2026, where the film Sinners emerged as the standout winner. The film’s hit song “I Lied to You” earned the prestigious award for best song written and/or recorded for a film. Additionally, the film’s music supervisor, Niki Sherrod, was recognized for her exceptional work in major budget films.

The evening also honored Raphael Saadiq, co-writer of “I Lied to You,” who previously co-wrote the Oscar-nominated track “Mighty River” from the film Mudbound. Saadiq received the Icon Award in recognition of his significant contributions to both music and film. He performed “I Lied to You” alongside Ludwig Göransson, the composer for Sinners, with Brittany Howard joining them on guitar.

In a night filled with performances, Diane Warren also took the stage, accompanied by Sharon Farber and Eden Kontesz, to present her Oscar-nominated song “Dear Me” from the documentary Diane Warren: Relentless. Keith Secola performed his nominated song “NDN Kars” from the series Dark Winds, while Cris Chil, spotlight performer for the evening, debuted a new track titled “15K.”

A moment of remembrance marked the evening as Alejandro Aranda, runner-up of the 17th season of American Idol, paid tribute to the late music supervisor Robin Kaye, who was tragically murdered last year. Kaye, remembered as one of the industry’s most talented figures, received the Guild’s posthumous Legacy Award.

Beyond the accolades for Sinners, other notable winners included Marty Supreme and music supervisor Gabe Hilfer, who won for best music supervision in mid-level budget films. The award for low budget film music supervision went to Sarah Bromberg and Stephanie Diaz-Matos for their work on One of Them Days.

In the television categories, Hilfer also secured an award for best music supervision in a comedy with The Studio, while Tiffany Anders earned recognition for her work on the drama The Lowdown. The award for best music supervision in reality television was awarded to Meryl Ginsberg, Sara Torres, and Jordan Young for Love Island USA.

The award for best song written and/or recorded for television went to “Dialing In,” a composition by Thom Yorke for Apple TV’s Smoke.
