The Loveland Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) has officially announced its endorsements for the upcoming 2025 Mayor and City Council elections. After a comprehensive evaluation process that involved interviews and discussions, the FOP, representing the majority of officers and civilian employees of the Loveland Police Department, has backed several candidates who they believe will prioritize public safety and effective governance.

In the mayoral race, the FOP endorses Patrick McFall. For the City Council, the endorsed candidates include Dana Foley for Ward 2, and both John Fogle and Christopher Say for Ward 3. In Ward 4, the organization supports Zeke Cortez. Notably, no endorsement was made for candidates in Ward 1, highlighting the competitive nature of that race.

The FOP expresses gratitude to all candidates who participated in the endorsement process, recognizing their commitment to the Loveland community. According to the organization, the endorsed candidates have demonstrated a strong commitment to key issues such as adequate staffing, superior service delivery, and competitive compensation, essential for meeting the demands of Loveland’s growing population.

Community Support for Leadership Qualities

In a separate letter to the editor, local resident Rob Hall voiced his support for Kalina Middleton, a candidate in Ward 3. Hall praised Middleton’s leadership qualities, drawing parallels between her and her father, a former member of the Planning Commission. He described her as intelligent, dedicated, and capable of holding the city accountable to its citizens.

Hall emphasized Middleton’s focus on fiscal recovery, restoring community services, and improving existing processes, positioning her as a candidate serious about Loveland’s future. He encouraged voters in Ward 3 to support her candidacy, stating, “If her father were here today, he’d be proud.”

Calls for Accountability in Political Discourse

Another local resident, Wanda Marker, suggested that candidates should clarify their positions regarding national issues, particularly their views on former President Donald Trump’s decision-making during civil unrest. Marker proposed that candidates be asked if they support Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard in cities, indicating that their responses could be revealing of their moral leadership capabilities.

As election season progresses, the community is reminded of the opportunity to express their opinions on candidates and issues. The Loveland newspaper has implemented guidelines for submissions, allowing a maximum of 200 words per letter and a 30-day waiting period for subsequent letters regarding the same candidate. This approach aims to ensure a diverse range of voices is heard leading up to the elections.

The endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police and the dialogue among community members reflect the active engagement of Loveland’s citizens as they prepare for the 2025 elections. As the electoral landscape evolves, the focus remains on the qualities and policies that will shape the future of their city.
