Man Pleads Guilty to Vehicular Homicide in Aurora Hit-and-Run
A 42-year-old man has pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide in connection with a hit-and-run incident in Aurora, Colorado, that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. According to court records from Arapahoe County, Jeremy Austen House entered the plea on Monday, September 25, 2024, as part of a deal that allowed for the dismissal of a first-degree murder charge.
The incident occurred just after midnight on November 18, 2024, when House, while driving a 2000 Buick Century, struck Dorian Matthew Torrez, a 34-year-old motorcyclist, near the intersection of South Havana Street and East Jewell Avenue. Following the collision, House fled the scene, leaving Torrez severely injured. Paramedics transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.
Investigators were able to identify House as a suspect in the case, along with Alexandra Lynn Noorlun, a 33-year-old woman who has also been implicated. Both were arrested in February 2024 after a standoff at their residence in the 12200 block of East Kansas Place, which lasted several hours.
Noorlun is facing three felony charges, including two counts of being an accessory to a crime and one count of tampering with evidence. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 17, 2024, for an arraignment hearing.
House’s sentencing hearing is set for December 8, 2024. The plea deal significantly reduces the potential penalties he faces, focusing on the vehicular homicide charge as opposed to the more severe murder charge.
This case highlights the serious consequences of hit-and-run incidents and the legal ramifications that can follow such tragic events. The community continues to seek justice for Torrez, whose life was cut short as a result of this collision.
