Remembering Wade Gluyas: A Life of Kindness and Generosity
Wade Alexander Gluyas, born on August 14, 1958, in Santa Ana, California, passed away on October 20, 2024, following a prolonged battle with kidney and liver failure. He was the only son of George and Bette Gluyas, and his life was marked by a commitment to family, friends, and those in need.
Wade graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School and furthered his education with a degree from ITT Technical School. His passion for learning led him to attend various community college classes, reflecting his lifelong dedication to knowledge. Described as a “big teddy bear” of a man, Wade was known for his warm smile and jovial laughter. His kindness was evident to those around him; he was someone who would share the last dollar he had or the shirt off his back with anyone in need.
Despite his generous spirit, Wade faced challenges due to obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which sometimes hindered connections with others. His caring nature was occasionally misinterpreted, leading to misunderstandings regarding his intentions. Nevertheless, he remained steadfast in his commitment to help “critters,” “old geezers,” and “the little tikes,” as he affectionately referred to them. Those who took the time to know him often discovered a loyal and compassionate friend.
A Life of Simple Pleasures
Wade found joy in life’s simple pleasures, sharing many memorable moments with his family. He enjoyed playful banter and practical jokes with his sister, Becky, and spent time fishing with his father and sister, Leslie. Wade and his childhood friend, Chris, often dreamed of adventures to far-off places like Alaska, though they never made the journey. Their conversations about travel and exploration revealed Wade’s imaginative spirit.
An avid food enthusiast, Wade had a unique culinary style characterized by an abundance of sour cream, hot sauce, and mayonnaise. While his creations may have been unconventional, they were a source of laughter and enjoyment for those who shared meals with him.
Family played a significant role in Wade’s life. He lived with his mother, sister, and nephew, managing errands and household responsibilities for them. Wade cared for his parents until their passing in 2005 and continued to support his family through various challenges. Following their deaths, he moved in with his sister, Beth, and brother-in-law, Gary, in Visalia, California. Despite the difficulties posed by his OCD, his family remained devoted to him throughout his life.
A Legacy of Generosity
As Wade faced the end of his life, he exhibited the same kindness and concern he had always shown. He worried about how his family was coping with his illness, demonstrating his selflessness even in his final days. In a testament to his generous spirit, Wade chose to donate his organs to the Donor Network, encouraging others to consider organ donation for the sake of those in need.
Wade’s burial will take place at Murrieta Valley Cemetery in Murrieta, California, alongside his parents and sister on November 3, 2024, at 13:00. His family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.
Wade Gluyas will be remembered not only for his compassionate nature and unwavering generosity but also for the light he brought into the lives of others. As they reflect on his life, many will agree that the world feels a little dimmer without him, yet heaven is undoubtedly a bit brighter with his presence.
