Teaser for ‘Chatha Pacha’ Unleashes Kerala’s Wrestling Spirit
India’s Reel World Entertainment has released a teaser for the highly anticipated film, Chatha Pacha: The Ring of Rowdies. The film explores the vibrant and chaotic world of wrestling culture in the southern Indian state of Kerala, drawing inspiration from WWE-style competitions.
Starring Roshan Mathew, known for his award-winning role in Paradise, and Arjun Ashokan from Bramayugam, the film features a robust ensemble cast that includes Vishak Nair from Officer on Duty and Ishan Shoukath from Marco.
Behind the Scenes and Production Team
Making his directorial debut, Adhvaith Nayar leads the project, with creative producer Shihan Shoukath steering its development under the Reel World Entertainment banner. The technical team is noteworthy, featuring director of photography Anend C. Chandran, action choreographer Kalai Kingson, and composer Mujeeb Majeed. The screenplay is crafted by Sanoop Thykoodam, with editing by Praveen Prabhakar.
A major highlight for the film is the involvement of the celebrated Bollywood composer trio Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, who are making their debut in Malayalam cinema with the film’s soundtrack. The music rights are held by T-Series, one of India’s largest music labels.
Distribution Plans and Cultural Impact
Chatha Pacha is set to be released in multiple Indian languages, with an extensive distribution network already in place. In Kerala, the film will be released by Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films. PVR Inox Pictures will oversee distribution in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, while negotiations are ongoing with leading players for the Telugu and Hindi language rights. The Plot Pictures will manage international distribution.
Producer Shihan Shoukath expressed his excitement about the project, stating, “We’ve spent the last two years building Chatha Pacha from the ground up. It has transformed from a scrappy underdog idea into a world we’ve poured our hearts into.” He elaborated on the film’s essence, describing it as “loud, chaotic, full of emotion, and rooted deeply in the culture we love, but wild and genre-bending in a way that hopefully feels new.”
Reflecting on his role, Roshan Mathew shared, “Chatha Pacha is unlike anything I’ve done before. The best part is, I think that’s true for most of us who are part of this film. It really is a uniquely mad idea.”
The teaser for Chatha Pacha is available for viewing, promising an exhilarating glimpse into a film that combines cultural depth with high-octane entertainment.
