The Twilight Sad Announces 2026 Tour and New Single Featuring Robert Smith
The Twilight Sad has revealed plans for a headline tour across the UK and Europe in spring 2026, coinciding with the release of their sixth studio album. The band will perform in various European cities, including locations in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, before returning to the UK for a highly anticipated show at Glasgow’s Barrowlands on May 5, 2026.
Alongside the tour announcement, the band has also released their latest single, titled “Waiting For The Phone Call.” This new song features a special guest appearance by Robert Smith, the iconic frontman of The Cure, who contributes guitar to the track.
Insights from James Graham
In discussing the themes of the song, lead vocalist and lyricist James Graham shared his personal connection to the lyrics. He described “Waiting For The Phone Call” as an exploration of grief, love, and mental illness. Graham expressed that these experiences profoundly impacted his life, particularly following the loss of a significant person in a devastating manner.
He stated, “I’ve always used writing as a method of processing and coping with my emotions. My emotions became a problem and I couldn’t control them.” He emphasized the importance of collaboration with guitarist Andy MacFarlane over the past seven years, describing it as both an escape and a means to make sense of his experiences.
Graham continued, “We’ve all been waiting on a phone call that can change our lives at some point. This unfortunately focuses on a phone call that you never want to have.” The band’s new single encapsulates the weight of these emotions and the challenges faced in navigating personal loss.
Upcoming Collaborations and Performances
In addition to their own tour, The Twilight Sad will join The Cure in late 2026 for a series of performances, including shows in Dublin and Berlin. This partnership highlights the band’s rising profile within the music industry and their growing fan base.
As anticipation builds for both the new album and the upcoming tour, fans can expect an emotional and powerful experience that reflects the band’s journey through personal and artistic challenges. The Twilight Sad continues to resonate with audiences, and their new music promises to deepen that connection.
