Governor Oleh Synehubov reported on a messaging platform that the two-year-old boy was killed during a drone strike in Ukraine’s second-largest city. This attack followed a ballistic missile strike the previous night, which damaged residential areas significantly, shattering approximately 1,000 windows. The governor noted that the number of injured individuals is “continuously increasing,” further complicating the situation.

Details of the Kharkiv Attacks

Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed the fatalities and injuries from both strikes. Among the injured are six children aged between six and 17. He shared updates via Telegram, including the rescue of a woman trapped under the rubble, indicating that more victims might still be buried in the debris.

The ongoing conflict has made Kharkiv, located in northeastern Ukraine near the Russian border, a frequent target of Russian military operations since the full-scale invasion began in February 2022.
