Netflix Unveils Trailer for Marine Corps Documentary Ahead of Anniversary
Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary series titled “Marines.” This four-episode series will premiere on November 10, 2025, coinciding with the 250th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps. The production is backed by the team renowned for their work on acclaimed World War II dramas, including “Band of Brothers” and “Saving Private Ryan.”
The series follows the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit, which is based in Okinawa, Japan, as it engages in high-stakes combat exercises across the Pacific. According to the synopsis provided by Netflix, “Marines” aims to offer an inside perspective on the rigorous training and emotional moments experienced by young Marines as they build camaraderie while navigating the complexities of life at sea.
In the trailer, a Marine introduces himself by stating, “I’m a grunt, someone that’s going to do exactly what they’re told.” He emphasizes, “But we think too… We have feelings, all right?” This powerful moment captures the personal experiences and emotions of those serving in one of the U.S. military’s most recognized branches.
The documentary is directed by Chelsea Yarnell, known for her previous work on projects like “Cheer” and “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.” It is produced by Amblin Documentaries and Lucky 8 TV, with executive producers including Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey, presidents of Amblin Entertainment Television and Documentaries. They are joined by notable figures such as Sebastian Junger, Kimberly Woodard, Greg Henry, Isaac Holub, and George Kralovansky. Co-executive producers include Katie Goldstein and Arielle Kilker.
Frank and Falvey expressed their gratitude to the United States Marine Corps for their collaboration, stating, “We’d like to thank the United States Marine Corps for welcoming us and trusting us to tell the honest, complex stories of the brave young people willing to risk their lives for their country.” They emphasized the importance of this documentary as a “gripping, important look behind the curtain of one of our nation’s most vital institutions.”
With the launch of “Marines,” Netflix aims to provide a nuanced portrayal of the lives and experiences of young servicemen and women, showcasing both the challenges they face and the bonds they form in their service to the nation. As the release date approaches, anticipation builds for a series that promises to blend personal stories with the broader narrative of military life.
