T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones Claim Fifth Victory with Dominant Win

The T.A. Dugger Jr. Cyclones achieved their fifth consecutive victory with a commanding 34-0 shutout against the Robinson Middle Warriors on September 28, 2023. The match took place at Citizens Bank Stadium, where a strong performance from both the offense and defense ensured the Cyclones maintained their unbeaten streak.
From the outset, T.A. Dugger set a formidable pace. The game began with an electrifying kickoff return from Tyson Elliott, who dashed 60 yards to place the Cyclones in a prime scoring position. Just moments later, quarterback Creed Baker showcased his agility with a 21-yard touchdown run, putting the Cyclones ahead 8-0 after Carson Lyons successfully executed a two-point conversion.
The Cyclones continued their dominance in the first quarter when Baker fielded a Robinson punt, sprinting 36 yards for another touchdown with 4:35 left in the period. Although the two-point conversion attempt was unsuccessful, the score increased to 14-0, leaving the Warriors struggling to gain momentum.
Elliott maintained the pressure on the next possession, capping a short drive with a 12-yard touchdown run at the 1:22 mark, extending the lead to 20-0 before the quarter ended. The Cyclones’ defense effectively stifled Robinson’s efforts to advance, keeping them confined to their own territory for much of the half.
As halftime approached, Baker connected with Drake Lytton for an 18-yard touchdown pass, pushing the score to 26-0 at the break. The Cyclones’ defense continued to thwart Robinson’s attempts, showcasing a well-rounded team effort.
Second Half Dominance
After the halftime break, the Cyclones focused on their ground game to seal the victory. Elliott scored his second touchdown of the night with an 18-yard run during the third quarter. Baker then found Axel Matherly for the two-point conversion, increasing the Cyclones’ lead to 34-0. With the game comfortably in hand, T.A. Dugger rotated fresh players into the lineup, ensuring the shutout remained intact.
Head coach Brock Pittman commended his team for their performance and expressed gratitude for the strong support from fans. “I thought we played hard,” Pittman stated. “We had a great crowd to support the kids. Always proud to beat Kingsport. We are 5-0 and need everyone’s support next Thursday at home against Tennessee Middle.”
Through their first five games, the Jr. Cyclones have outscored opponents by a striking margin of 174-26, demonstrating a balanced offense paired with an opportunistic defense. Baker has proven to be a dual-threat quarterback, while Elliott’s speed and versatility have made him a crucial asset in various aspects of the game.
As T.A. Dugger prepares to face Tennessee Middle in their upcoming home game, the team aims to maintain their winning momentum. If Thursday’s performance is any indication, the Cyclones are poised to continue their successful run in the season.
