Barnes & Noble Launches New Pasadena Store with Local Flair
Barnes & Noble is set to open its new location in Pasadena on Wednesday, marking a significant addition to the local retail landscape. The new store, which replaces a former Party City, spans an impressive 14,000 square feet at the Pasadena Crossroads and will offer a diverse selection of books, toys, games, and more.
James Daunt, CEO of Barnes & Noble, expressed enthusiasm about the opening in a recent news release. “We are very pleased to open this beautiful new Barnes & Noble in Pasadena, our second new bookstore in Maryland to open in the past three months,” he stated. Daunt emphasized that each new store is customized to serve its local community, supported by a dedicated team of local booksellers. He noted that the staff in Pasadena has been diligently preparing for the grand opening and are eager to welcome customers.
The bookstore’s opening is part of a broader expansion strategy for Barnes & Noble, which is experiencing what officials describe as a “tremendous growth” phase. The company reported that it opened more stores last year than during the entirety of the decade from 2009 to 2019. This growth is attributed to an increase in autonomy for individual locations, mirroring the operations of independent booksellers. Looking ahead, the retailer plans to open 65 stores in 2025.
As part of the opening festivities, author Brigid Kemmerer, known for her book “Warrior Princess Assassin,” will perform a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 9 a.m. and will be available for book signings afterwards.
The Pasadena location highlights Barnes & Noble’s commitment to connecting with local communities and adapting its offerings to meet their specific needs. As the company continues to expand, it is clear that it aims to strengthen its presence in the book retail market.
