A 41-year-old man died early on March 18, 2024, after crashing a stolen Honda Civic into a building in the Midwood neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York. The incident unfolded around 02:40 when the suspect allegedly took the vehicle, which had been left running and unattended near the intersection of Regent Place and Flatbush Avenue.

According to the New York Police Department (NYPD), the suspect drove south on Flatbush Avenue at a high speed before losing control of the vehicle near Avenue J. The Civic jumped the curb and collided violently with a building, splitting the car in half upon impact. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and subsequently pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital.

Investigators believe the Honda Civic was being utilized as an Uber prior to the theft. The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is examining the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.

No other injuries were reported, and debris from the crash was scattered across Flatbush Avenue as investigators processed the scene. Witnesses described the aftermath as chaotic, with police tape surrounding the area.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, and authorities are working to determine the full details of the events leading up to the crash. As the investigation continues, the focus remains on understanding how the vehicle was stolen and the sequence of events that led to the fatal accident.
