Orioles Call Up Outfielder Dylan Beavers After Trade Deadline

The Baltimore Orioles have announced the promotion of outfielder Dylan Beavers, the club’s No. 3 prospect, to the major leagues. This decision comes after a challenging period for the Orioles’ outfield, which has struggled since the trade deadline. The 24-year-old Beavers is expected to make his major league debut during the team’s game against the Houston Astros.

Beavers has demonstrated impressive performance in Triple-A Norfolk this season, achieving a remarkable .420 on-base percentage and racking up 34 extra-base hits across 94 games. The opportunity for Beavers arose following the departure of players Cedric Mullins, Ramón Laureano, and Ryan O’Hearn at the trade deadline. Despite his solid numbers, the Orioles initially chose to fill the outfield vacancies with infielder Jeremiah Jackson, veteran Greg Allen, and other recent acquisitions.

The Orioles’ outfielders have recorded a combined .585 OPS this month, underscoring the need for a boost. Allen was designated for assignment to create a roster spot for Beavers, whose promotion comes at a strategic time. By promoting him after August 15, the Orioles have ensured that Beavers can maintain his rookie eligibility for the 2026 season, provided he does not exceed 130 at-bats this year.
