Elizabethton Cyclones Dominate Seymour Eagles on Senior Night
On a brisk evening on October 7, 2025, the Elizabethton Cyclones secured a memorable victory against the Seymour Eagles, winning 42-14 in their final regular-season home game at Citizens Bank Stadium. The win not only marked a strong finish for their home campaign but also provided a fitting tribute to the team’s senior class.
Elizabethton demonstrated a well-rounded offensive performance throughout the match, outgaining Seymour with a total offense of 356 yards compared to the Eagles’ 204. The Cyclones’ ground game was particularly effective, amassing an impressive 262 yards on the ground. Freshman quarterback Brycen Blevins showcased his skills, delivering precise passes while also leading the team’s dynamic rushing attack.
The Cyclones opened the scoring early, with junior running back C.J. Mathes darting 21 yards to the end zone on the team’s first possession. Seymour quickly responded, tying the score at 7-7 when senior tailback Josh Gilbert crossed the goal line with a 2-yard touchdown run. However, the Cyclones regained control as the first quarter closed, with senior fullback Jaiden Wallin powering in from a yard out to take a 14-7 lead.
Blevins exhibited composure and skill as he guided the Cyclones on a swift two-minute drive just before halftime. He connected with junior receiver Justius Wallin for an 8-yard touchdown pass, extending Elizabethton’s lead to 21-7 at halftime.
Despite a brief resurgence by Seymour in the third quarter, when Gilbert scored his second touchdown of the night, the Cyclones quickly countered. Mathes scored again from 3 yards out, restoring a two-touchdown lead. The junior running back was a force throughout the match, ultimately scoring three touchdowns, including a 5-yard run in the fourth quarter.
Elizabethton’s defense proved formidable, effectively stifling Seymour’s offense. The Eagles managed just 71 passing yards and were forced into multiple three-and-outs. The Cyclones’ defensive line restricted Seymour’s ground game, allowing only 133 rushing yards.
As the game neared its conclusion, Jaiden Wallin capped off the evening with his second touchdown, adding a final score from 4 yards out to secure the 42-14 victory. This triumph was not only a testament to the Cyclones’ skill but also celebrated the contributions of 14 seniors who have been vital to the program’s success over the past four seasons.
The statistics from the game highlighted Elizabethton’s dominance. Blevins completed 10 of 11 passes for 94 yards and one touchdown, effectively distributing the ball among his receivers. Mathes led the ground game with 121 yards on 16 carries, while Justius Wallin added an impressive 65 yards on just four attempts. Collectively, the Cyclones averaged nearly seven yards per rush, underlining their offensive discipline and physicality.
As the Elizabethton Cyclones look forward to their next challenge, their performance against Seymour serves as a strong reminder of their capabilities and potential as they advance further into the postseason.
