SpaceX Crew-11 Dragon Successfully Docks at ISS, Sets New Record
On August 1, 2025, the SpaceX Crew-11 mission launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, successfully sending its Dragon spacecraft toward the International Space Station (ISS). This mission marks the 11th crewed flight of SpaceX under NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, continuing the partnership aimed at advancing human spaceflight.
The Dragon spacecraft, named Endeavour, is designed for fully autonomous operations, enabling it to transport astronauts and cargo to the ISS and other low Earth orbit (LEO) destinations. The reusable vehicle can withstand multiple reentries and is equipped to remain docked at the ISS for extended periods, enhancing the efficiency of space travel.
Record-Breaking Docking
Endeavour docked with the ISS’s Harmony module on August 2, 2025, less than 15 hours after launch, setting a new record for the fastest Crew Dragon rendezvous. This rapid docking process signifies not only the technological advancements of SpaceX but also the increasing reliability of commercial space missions.
During its stay at the ISS, which is expected to last between six and eight months, the Crew-11 team will conduct a variety of scientific experiments and perform maintenance on the station. The four astronauts aboard will also mark a significant milestone in space history, as they will be present for the 25th anniversary of continuous human presence on the ISS, expected to be celebrated in early November.
