Over $6 Million Raised for Family After Charlie Kirk’s Death
In the wake of the tragic murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University on March 6, 2024, donations exceeding $6 million have been raised to support his family and honor his legacy. The 31-year-old Kirk was shot, prompting a wave of grief among his supporters and calls for an end to political violence. Vigils and memorial services have sprung up nationwide, reflecting the impact Kirk had on many lives.
Kirk’s death has resonated deeply within the conservative community. Thousands gathered at events, including a notable memorial at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., on March 10, where prominent figures from various political backgrounds condemned the violence. Kirk was a close ally of former President Donald Trump, credited with mobilizing millions of young Americans into the conservative movement.
As of March 10, online fundraisers have emerged to support Kirk’s wife, Erika Kirk, and their two children. A significant fundraiser organized by ALP, a nicotine pouch brand co-owned by the Tucker Carlson Network and Turning Point brands, has seen overwhelming support, raising over $4.65 million with a goal of $6 million. ALP has pledged $1 million to this effort, expressing their sorrow over Kirk’s death, stating, “Love for God, family, and country defined his life.”
Additional fundraising efforts are underway. The Turning Point Action website has launched an “official support page” that has raised more than $1.25 million, while Glenn Beck’s 9-12 Project has reached over $500,000. Various smaller fundraisers on GoFundMe have collectively raised tens of thousands of dollars, with one notable campaign amassing over $60,800.
In a heartfelt statement, Erika Kirk has vowed to continue her husband’s political work, asserting, “The movement my husband built will not die. It won’t. I refuse to let that happen.” This determination reflects the strength of community support surrounding the Kirk family during this difficult time.
Kirk’s suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, aged 22, surrendered to police and is expected to face formal charges on March 12, 2024. In remembrance of Kirk, a memorial service is planned for March 17 in his home state of Arizona, with an anticipated attendance of 60,000 people. Former President Trump is expected to be among the attendees, underscoring the significance of Kirk’s contributions to the political landscape.
The outpouring of support for Kirk’s family illustrates the profound impact he had on his followers and the broader community, as well as the ongoing dialogue about the necessity of safety and civility in political discourse.
