The stalemate in negotiations leaves many Americans facing potential premium hikes that could double or triple when open enrollment begins on November 1, 2023.

Democrats assert that without a partner for negotiations, their calls for extending ACA subsidies have intensified. “People across the country are about to see their health insurance premiums double,” said Sen. Ben Ray Lujan (D-NM). “This is an American issue, not just a Democrat or Republican issue.”
