TNA Poised to Announce New Media Rights Deal by Year-End
TNA (Total Nonstop Action Wrestling) is nearing the announcement of a significant new media rights deal, with expectations set for an unveiling by the end of the year. This announcement follows statements from TNA President Carlos Silva, who indicated in various interviews that the organization is close to finalizing a new agreement. The networks currently in the conversation include The CW and A&E, both of which have established connections within the wrestling industry.
The CW, known for airing NXT in the United States, and A&E, which has a long-standing partnership with WWE featuring programs like WWE LFG and Biography: WWE Legends, are considered strong contenders for TNA’s new television arrangement. According to reports from high-ranking television industry sources, TNA’s next media rights deal could be announced shortly, potentially before the year’s end.
AMC Emerges as a New Contender
In an intriguing twist, AMC has surfaced as a potential home for TNA programming. While AMC has not previously aired professional wrestling, it is renowned for popular series such as Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and The Walking Dead. This shift could dramatically increase TNA’s viewership, with current estimates indicating that AXS TV, where TNA is currently airing, reaches approximately 30 million homes in the United States. A move to AMC could effectively double that reach, providing a significant boost to TNA’s visibility.
The implications of a new media rights deal extend beyond viewership numbers. Currently, TNA broadcasts on the Anthem-owned AXS TV and the TNA+ streaming service, which limits its revenue potential. A deal with any new network would likely enhance TNA’s revenue, especially considering Silva’s previous comments suggesting a target of up to $10 million for the new agreement.
Future Prospects for TNA Programming
Speculation is also rife regarding TNA’s programming strategy moving forward. There are indications that the organization may aim to increase its live programming offerings. Additionally, the weekly iMPACT show could potentially shift its air time to go directly against AEW programming, marking a strategic move in the competitive wrestling landscape.
As TNA edges closer to finalizing its media rights deal, industry observers will be keenly watching for further developments. The outcome of this announcement could significantly influence TNA’s trajectory in the wrestling world, potentially reshaping its audience and revenue streams for the future.
