Penn Entertainment Launches $185 Million Hollywood Casino Joliet
Penn Entertainment Inc. has officially opened the doors to its newest gaming establishment, the Hollywood Casino Joliet, located in Joliet, Illinois. This $185 million land-based casino replaces the company’s former riverboat facility, which had been operational since 1992. The new venue welcomed its first guests on Monday, following approximately 20 months of construction.
Jay Snowden, the CEO and President of Penn Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, highlighting the company’s longstanding presence in the Joliet area. “We are thrilled to open the doors to this land-based entertainment destination,” he remarked in a statement. The casino occupies a spacious 189,000 square feet and has created around 600 permanent jobs, in addition to the 450 construction positions generated during its development.
