Elks Lodge Hosts Jam Session to Support Veterans’ Music Program

The Santa Clarita Elks Lodge No. 2379 held a successful jam session on August 29, 2023, uniting local musicians and veterans in a spirited evening of music and community support. The event featured members of the nonprofit organization Guitars for Vets, which offers guitar lessons to veterans at no cost.

Organized by Veterans Committee Chair Jeannette Fisher, the evening included a complimentary dinner for veterans, serving nearly 100 meals in total, with 26 complimentary plates specifically designated for those who have served. Guests enjoyed a hearty roast beef dinner while listening to classic tunes performed by both Guitars for Vets members and musicians from the Elks Lodge.

All tips collected throughout the weekend were directed towards supporting Guitars for Vets. The event raised a significant sum of $700, which will help fund the organization’s mission of providing free guitar lessons to veterans. Each participant who completes the ten-week course receives a free guitar, facilitating a therapeutic outlet for many.

The jam session not only highlighted the talents of local musicians but also underscored the commitment of the Santa Clarita Elks Lodge to support veterans in their community.
