The Barn Theatre in Willmar is set to premiere the comedic production of “Exit Laughing” by Paul Elliott on September 18, 2019. This engaging play explores themes of friendship, loss, and the joy of living life to the fullest.

The storyline revolves around a 30-year tradition among four friends who gather weekly for bridge night. When one member of the group passes away, three Southern ladies from Birmingham—Connie, Leona, and Millie—decide to take a bold step. They “borrow” the ashes of their deceased friend from the funeral home for one last card game, leading to an evening filled with unexpected events, including a police raid and a surprise appearance by a stripper.

The cast features Lorie Skaro-Johnson as Connie, Autumn Foshaug as Rachel Anne, Cherry Hanson as Leona, Melanie Lady as Millie, and Gavin Johnson as Bobby. The production is directed by Thomas Rosengren, with Liz Welter serving as stage manager. The design team includes Steve Onnen as set director, Lynsey Pierce for costumes, Matt Onnen handling lighting design and operation, and Peder Erickson as the sound operator.

Performances will take place from September 18 through 20 and September 25 through 27, with evening shows starting at 19:00. Additionally, there will be matinee performances at 14:00 on September 21 and September 28.

Tickets are priced at $25 for adults and $15 for students, making this a delightful and affordable option for those seeking an evening of laughter and entertainment. The Barn Theatre promises an unforgettable night filled with humor, camaraderie, and a fresh perspective on the importance of living life vibrantly.
