Houston Dynamo Secure Felipe Andrade with Purchase Option
The Houston Dynamo have officially exercised their option to purchase Brazilian defender Felipe Andrade, making him a permanent member of the team. The decision was announced on Tuesday, solidifying Andrade’s role after he joined the Dynamo on loan from Fluminense SC earlier this season.
Since his arrival in Major League Soccer (MLS), the 23-year-old Andrade has made a significant impact, recording three goals and one assist over 19 matches, 15 of which were starts. His contributions have been pivotal in keeping the Dynamo competitive as they strive for a playoff position, currently sitting at eight wins, thirteen losses, and nine draws, totaling 33 points. They are now just two points shy of the Western Conference playoff cutoff line.
Andrade’s Impact and Versatility
Dynamo president of soccer Pat Onstad praised Andrade’s talent and adaptability, highlighting his ability to play in various positions within the team’s system. Onstad stated, “Felipe is an exciting young talent who has quickly established himself as an impact contributor at the first-team level. His versatility allows us to deploy him in multiple roles within our system, and he consistently plays with a fierce competitive edge and full commitment to our project in Houston.”
Andrade’s experience includes being part of the Fluminense squad that won the 2023 Copa Libertadores, adding a prestigious title to his resume. His performance at both club and international levels has underscored his potential and value as a player in the highly competitive landscape of professional soccer.
The Dynamo’s decision to secure Andrade reflects their commitment to building a strong roster as they push for a successful campaign. With his skills and competitive spirit, Andrade is expected to play a crucial role in the team’s efforts to reach the playoffs in the ongoing season.
