Ascot Racing: Push The Limit Aims for Victory in Competitive Card
On a promising day at Ascot, the standout contender is the impressive colt Push The Limit, trained by Ralph Beckett and ridden by Hector Crouch. The horse aims to extend his winning streak in the feature race, the Silent Pool Gin Handicap, after demonstrating remarkable progress with two victories from four starts. Rated at 98, he has gained seven pounds following a comfortable win at Glorious Goodwood.
The competition in the race is expected to be fierce, with Tenable, trained by William Haggas, also in strong form. Having secured a hat-trick at Ascot last month, Tenable won the Shergar Cup Classic by a neck over today’s distance and arrives four pounds heavier but is still a serious threat.
Another notable competitor is Nightwalker, who is seeking a return to form after a disappointing performance in the August Stakes at Windsor. Once a hopeful for the Epsom Derby, Nightwalker is looking to rebound against a more suitable field. Completing the line-up are Rogue Millions, Daiquiri Bay, Topteam, and Too Soon, all of whom add depth to this exciting contest.
Competitive Showdowns in Other Races
In the 2:40 PM race at Ascot, the Schweppes Handicap features a rematch between Native Warrior and Great Acclaim. The latter triumphed at the Goodwood Festival, securing his first win of the year at odds of 18-1. Native Warrior, trained by Karl Burke, is looking to avenge his previous loss, arriving with an advantageous eight-pound swing.
The 3:50 PM race, the British EBF Premier Fillies’ Handicap, sees Treasure attempt to secure a second career victory for His Majesty the King. After a disappointing outing at York, trainers have opted to reduce her distance to a mile for the first time in her career. Protest, her principal rival, has shown strong form, with a notable win at Glorious Goodwood in her last start.
Races Beyond Ascot
Beyond Ascot, attention also pivots to Wolverhampton, where races commence at 1:40 PM. The day features Havana Touch, returning from a break after an impressive victory at Kempton. The race at Wolverhampton presents an opportunity for Equion, who has dropped in the weights after two less-than-stellar performances.
Looking further afield, the Grade One Franklin-Simpson Stakes at Kentucky Downs features Mi Bago, who has faced tough competitors this season. Despite not winning since March, Mi Bago remains a contender if he adapts well to the drop in trip. Another notable entry is Governor Sam, who finished third in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint last year.
As racing enthusiasts gear up for a thrilling day across various venues, the spotlight remains on Ascot’s feature race, where Push The Limit looks poised to continue his ascent. Each race promises excitement, with a mix of seasoned competitors and emerging talents ready to make their mark.
