Mesa’s Asian District Brochure Earns Gold Award at 2025 IEDC

The City of Mesa has achieved international recognition for its commitment to promoting its Asian District. The Mesa Office of Economic Development (Mesa OED) is slated to receive the prestigious 2025 Gold Award for Excellence in Economic Development from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC). This honor comes as a result of the impactful Asian District Brochure, which highlights the area’s cultural and economic significance. The award will be presented at the IEDC’s annual conference in Detroit, Michigan, from September 14-17, 2025.
Mesa’s initiative aims to not only celebrate the Asian District but also to enhance its economic profile. Mayor Mark Freeman emphasized the importance of the district within the community, stating, “Mesa’s Asian District is a vital part of our community and economy.” He elaborated on the brochure’s role as a critical resource, noting, “The Asian District Brochure has been an important resource to highlight the culture, commerce, and contributions of this dynamic area.”
The brochure serves as more than just a tourism guide; it is a comprehensive tool for development. It showcases numerous Asian-owned businesses, restaurants, and cultural attractions that make up the district. By providing information and encouraging exploration, the brochure fosters a sense of community and belonging among residents and visitors alike. As outlined by the City of Mesa, the publication aims to strengthen the local economy by promoting inclusivity and diversity.
Recognition from the IEDC underscores the efficacy of Mesa OED’s strategies in economic development. The council annually honors organizations and initiatives that have demonstrated exceptional performance in revitalizing communities and advancing best practices within the field. This award highlights Mesa’s successful execution of projects that facilitate significant economic growth and development.
In summary, Mesa’s Asian District Brochure is a testament to the city’s dedication to celebrating its diverse cultural landscape while simultaneously driving economic progress. As the community looks forward to the award presentation, the recognition serves as affirmation of the positive impact such initiatives can have on local economies.
