Woman Injured in Neighbor Dispute Shooting in Philadelphia

A woman was shot on March 6, 2024, during a dispute between two neighboring families in the West Oak Lane section of Philadelphia. The incident occurred around 17:00 along Ogontz Avenue, where police responded to reports of gunfire amid inclement weather.

According to Philadelphia police, the 28-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound to the side of her chest. Her family attempted to transport her to the hospital in a private vehicle when officers arrived at the scene. Authorities advised them to place her in the patrol car for a faster response to Einstein Medical Center, emphasizing the urgency of her condition. Initially in critical condition, she received prompt medical attention that ultimately saved her life.

Investigators have not yet determined the specific cause of the dispute that escalated into gunfire. Chief Inspector Scott Small noted that evidence indicates shots were fired from two separate locations, involving two different semi-automatic weapons. “We know five shots were fired from two separate caliber semi-automatic weapons,” Small stated.

In the vicinity of the shooting, investigators discovered private surveillance cameras that will assist in the ongoing investigation. Police are currently questioning two men connected to the incident. One man, who was found with a firearm at the scene, is cooperating with authorities, although it remains unclear if he was involved in the shooting. The second individual was apprehended on an unrelated felony warrant and is also being questioned regarding the events of the evening.
