Sweden Signs Deal to Supply Ukraine with Up to 150 Gripen Fighters

Zelenskyy echoed the sentiment, highlighting that the JAS 39 Gripen will play a crucial role in enhancing Ukraine’s defense capabilities. He anticipates the first deliveries of these advanced aircraft as soon as **2026**.

Modernizing Ukraine’s Air Force

If the letter of intent evolves into a formal contract, Ukraine is expected to receive the latest “E” variant of the JAS 39 Gripen. This version, which the Swedish Air Force began receiving in **October 2025**, is designed for versatility and effectiveness in various operational scenarios.
