Mater Dei Leads Orange County Girls Volleyball Rankings Ahead of Playoffs

The latest rankings for Orange County girls volleyball highlight the dominance of the Mater Dei Monarchs, who secured the top position going into the CIF Southern Section playoffs. With an impressive record of 28 wins and 4 losses, Mater Dei finished the Trinity League with a perfect 6-0, capturing the league championship. They are seeded third in the highly competitive Division 1 playoffs.
Strong Performances from Local Teams
Following closely behind, the Los Alamitos Griffins hold the second spot with a record of 27 wins and 8 losses. They concluded their season undefeated at 12-0 in the Sunset League, earning the league title. Los Alamitos faces off against South Coast League champions San Juan Hills in the first round of the CIF-SS Division 1 playoffs on October 25.
San Juan Hills, ranked third, boasts a strong 20-5 record and also achieved an unblemished 8-0 in league play, securing the South Coast League championship. They will host Los Alamitos in what promises to be an exciting matchup in the first round.
Newport Harbor, with a record of 25 wins and 8 losses, ranks fourth after finishing second in the Sunset League with a 10-2 mark. Their only league losses came against Los Alamitos. Newport Harbor will compete against Mira Costa in the Division 1 playoffs on October 25.
Crean Lutheran, holding a record of 24-2, enters the playoffs ranked fifth. The Saints clinched the Freeway League championship with a 7-1 record, highlighted by a significant victory over Foothill in the final week of the regular season. They are set to play at Harvard-Westlake in their first-round match on October 25.
Remaining Teams in the Top 10
San Clemente and Foothill share the sixth position, both with notable performances this season. San Clemente, the Sea View League champions with a perfect 8-0 record, boasts a season total of 24 wins and 10 losses. They will face Louisville at home in the CIF-SS Division 2 playoffs on October 21. Foothill, with a record of 19-5, achieved a crucial victory over Crean Lutheran in the Freeway League, solidifying their competitive standing.
Santa Margarita, ranked seventh with a record of 20-10, qualified for the Division 2 playoffs after finishing second in the Trinity League. They will play against Los Osos in their first playoff game.
JSerra, at eighth with a 16-14 record, secured an at-large berth in the Division 2 playoffs and will host Windward. Orange Lutheran, despite a challenging 0-6 record in the Trinity League, also qualified for the Division 2 playoffs and will face Sunny Hills, who tied for the Crestview League championship with a record of 19-6.
As the CIF Southern Section playoffs approach, each of these teams will be eager to showcase their skills and compete for the championship title. The excitement surrounding these upcoming matches promises thrilling moments for fans and players alike.
