Diane Keaton’s Legacy: A $100 Million Fortune for Her Children

Hollywood icon Diane Keaton has passed away at the age of 79, leaving behind an impressive fortune estimated at around $100 million. Her death, which occurred after a sudden decline in health, was confirmed by a family representative on October 11, 2023. Keaton’s wealth is set to be inherited by her two children, daughter Dexter and son Duke.
A Life of Creativity and Wealth
Throughout her illustrious career, Keaton starred in numerous acclaimed films, including the iconic “The Godfather” and “Annie Hall.” Beyond her acting achievements, she was renowned for her passion for home renovation. Keaton successfully purchased and refurbished several high-value properties, selling them to notable figures in the entertainment industry.
Among her most significant transactions was a century-old mansion she acquired in 2007 for $8.1 million. This property was later transformed and sold to Ryan Murphy, the producer of “American Horror Story,” for $10 million in 2010. Additionally, Keaton sold a home in Bel Air for $16.5 million in 2005 and another property in Laguna Beach for $12.75 million in 2004.
In 2017, she published a design book titled “The House that Pinterest Built,” which showcased her renovation ideas and style guides, aimed at inspiring others in their home projects. Her own residence in Los Angeles was listed for sale in March 2025 for an astounding $29 million.
A Private Life and Motherhood
Despite her high-profile relationships with actors Al Pacino and Woody Allen, Keaton never married. In her 50s, she made a significant decision to adopt her two children, Dexter and Duke. Reflecting on her journey to motherhood, she shared with Ladies’ Home Journal, “I didn’t think that I was ever going to be prepared to be a mother. Motherhood was not an urge I couldn’t resist. It was more like a thought I’d been thinking for a very long time. So I plunged in.”
In a 2007 interview, she noted, “They have no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy. We live a relatively normal – well, sort of normal – life.” This sentiment highlights her desire for a balanced family life, away from the glare of the spotlight.
As fans and loved ones reflect on her remarkable legacy, Diane Keaton’s contributions to film and her unique approach to life will continue to inspire future generations. Her substantial fortune, now left to her children, serves as a testament to her enduring impact both on and off the screen.
