Nederland Bulldogs Fall Short Against West Fork Gators, 34-25
The Nederland Bulldogs experienced a challenging defeat on October 14, 2025, losing to the West Fork Gators with a score of 34-25 in a closely contested home game. Despite fighting back from a significant early deficit, the Bulldogs could not secure a victory, marking a tough night for the team.
West Fork quickly established dominance, racing to a 14-0 lead in the first quarter. This early advantage was bolstered by a fumble from the Bulldogs deep in their own territory. Nederland, already contending with injuries to three key starters, struggled to find their offensive rhythm. They managed to score with a field goal, narrowing the gap to 14-3.
As the second quarter progressed, West Fork extended their lead to 20-3. However, the Bulldogs began to rally. A pivotal 50-yard shovel pass set up running back Landon Mitchell for a 15-yard touchdown run, cutting the score to 20-10. Unfortunately for Nederland, West Fork responded quickly, scoring another touchdown just before halftime to lead 28-10.
The second half saw a reinvigorated Nederland team. They launched a series of strong runs, culminating in a touchdown that reduced the deficit to 28-17. Mitchell then broke free for a long touchdown run, followed by a successful two-point conversion, bringing the Bulldogs within three points at 28-25.
Despite their efforts, West Fork regained control late in the game. A quarterback sneak resulted in a short touchdown, pushing the Gators’ lead back to 34-25. Nederland’s final drive fell short after the two-minute warning, sealing the victory for West Fork.
Throughout the match, the Bulldogs demonstrated resilience and determination, fighting back from multiple double-digit deficits and forcing crucial turnovers. Looking ahead, Nederland aims to regroup as they prepare to face Lake Creek on October 24, 2025, in their last game before the Mid County Madness event.
