Dream Big Foundation Empowers Families Through Education Initiatives

The Dream Big Foundation is making significant strides in enhancing educational opportunities and wellness for under-resourced children and their families. Through a series of initiatives, this community-driven nonprofit aims to provide essential resources that foster literacy and social-emotional support.
Founded by Brittany and Travis Perry, the Dream Big Foundation focuses on bridging gaps in education and wellness. In an interview with Kim Gusby, the founders discussed their mission to empower families to achieve their potential with confidence. Their approach combines compassion and consistency, ensuring that support is available both academically and in everyday life.
Key Initiatives Fueling Change
The foundation hosts several cornerstone initiatives that cater to the diverse needs of the community. Among these is the annual Back-To-School Giveaway, which provides students with essential supplies to prepare for the academic year. This event has become a staple in the community, fostering a sense of readiness and excitement for learning.
Another important program is the Bookmark Breakfast, which focuses on literacy development. This event not only provides children with books but also encourages family engagement in the reading process. By making literacy a communal activity, the foundation nurtures a culture of learning that extends beyond the classroom.
In addition, the Hygiene Hut personal care initiative addresses basic health needs, ensuring that children have access to essential hygiene products. This program recognizes the vital link between health and education, supporting students in feeling their best as they pursue their studies.
Innovative Partnerships for Growth
The Dream Big Foundation has also formed a partnership with Chatham Area Transit (CAT) to launch the Storytime on the Move initiative. This innovative program aims to spark a love of reading among children while introducing them to the joys of public transit. Families will have the opportunity to participate in storytelling sessions on buses, creating a unique experience that combines learning with mobility.
Through these efforts, the Dream Big Foundation continues to make a meaningful impact on the lives of families in the community. By addressing both educational and wellness needs, the foundation not only supports academic success but also promotes overall well-being among children and their families.
As the foundation moves forward, its commitment to empowering under-resourced communities remains steadfast. By providing crucial resources and fostering partnerships, the Dream Big Foundation exemplifies how community-driven efforts can lead to transformative change.
