IDF Engages Hamas in Gaza City, Ten Militants Killed

Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops are actively engaged in operations against Hamas militants in Gaza City, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. The military confirmed on March 7, 2024, that its forces have killed ten Hamas militants since the onset of these operations.
Military Operations in Gaza City
According to the IDF, troops utilized tank fire, armed drones, and air strikes to target Hamas positions within the city. The military reported that members of its 162nd Division identified and eliminated several militants approximately 200 meters from their military encampments. In these engagements, IDF forces have not only targeted individuals but have also dismantled critical infrastructure used by Hamas militants.
During the operations, Israeli troops discovered a cache of weapons, including rifles and grenades, which were reportedly intended for use against IDF forces. An explosive device, hidden among the rubble, was also uncovered, further indicating the risks present in the area.
Targeting Leadership
In a related development, the IDF stated that its air force successfully targeted and killed the deputy head of Hamas’s military intelligence from the Bureij Battalion in the northern Gaza Strip. This targeted operation reflects a strategic focus on disrupting the command structure of Hamas.
The escalation in military activity follows a warning from the IDF issued on Tuesday, advising all residents of Gaza City to evacuate immediately as the area has become a designated combat zone. This decision underscores the seriousness of the ongoing military operations, which have heightened tensions in the region.
Previously, on March 6, the IDF foiled an attempt by over 15 Hamas militants to breach an IDF post in the southern city of Khan Yunis. During that incident, three Israeli soldiers sustained injuries, including one in serious condition, highlighting the ongoing volatility in the region.
As the situation continues to evolve, the IDF remains focused on its objectives in Gaza City, while also prioritizing the safety of its personnel amid increasingly dangerous conditions.
