Tabb High School Celebrates 100th Consecutive Field Hockey Win
Tabb High School’s field hockey team achieved a remarkable milestone by securing their 100th consecutive victory with a commanding 13-0 win against Smithfield. This achievement places Tabb among a select group of programs within the Virginia High School League (VHSL) known for such a streak. Under the guidance of coach Wendy Wilson, the team is now striving for its 12th state championship.
The match against Smithfield showcased Tabb’s dominance on the field. The Tigers overwhelmed the Packers, further establishing their reputation as a powerhouse in the sport. This victory not only marks a significant achievement for the team but also highlights the commitment and talent of the players and coaching staff involved.
In other high school sports news, the football field saw several compelling matchups. In the Bay Rivers District, Warhill defeated York with a score of 35-0, improving their record to 3-2. This match marked Warhill’s second shutout against York in their history of 18 meetings.
In the Peninsula District, Bethel triumphed over Kecoughtan with a staggering score of 53-0. Amari Pryear, a recruit for Hampton University, played a pivotal role in this victory, scoring four touchdowns. The Bruins, now with a record of 3-2, achieved a record high against Kecoughtan, with never before seen points in their previous 57 encounters.
Woodside also made headlines by defeating Menchville 41-21, leveling their record at 2-2. This match was particularly notable as it was Woodside’s first win against Menchville in their last four meetings. The game was interrupted by lightning with 7:17 left on the clock.
In field hockey, the action continued with Norfolk Academy dominating Nansemond-Suffolk Academy 8-0. Notable performances included Allie Tyszko, who scored three goals and provided an assist, and Audrey Lukevics, who contributed two goals and two assists. The team’s offensive prowess was evident throughout the match.
Cox also delivered an impressive performance, defeating Green Run 18-0. Bella Glenn led the way with four goals, while Leah Daves contributed with another hat trick. The game further showcased Cox’s strength in the Beach District.
The girls’ volleyball scene saw Kellam secure a victory against Bayside 3-1, with Joshua Eanes making significant contributions with six kills and four blocks. Meanwhile, Kempsville overcame Tallwood 3-0, with Wyatt Strawbridge leading the charge with 33 assists and three aces.
As high school athletes continue to make headlines across various sports, Tabb High School’s achievement stands out as a testament to excellence and dedication in the realm of field hockey.
