North Vancouver Police Investigate Series of Arson Incidents

Police are investigating a series of vandalism incidents, including two suspected arson cases, that occurred at Delbrook Park in North Vancouver this week. The North Vancouver Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) received reports on March 25 and 26, 2024, detailing a concerning trend of reckless behavior in the park’s washrooms.
The first incident took place on the evening of March 25, around 21:30. According to the RCMP, a garbage bin inside one of the washrooms was set on fire, resulting in damage to the bin and the surrounding floor. Witnesses reported seeing a man in his 30s, dressed in a black hoodie, leaving the scene shortly after the fire started.
The following day, police received another report of suspected arson. Authorities stated, “It’s alleged that a roll of toilet paper was lit on fire inside one of the washrooms.” While this act of vandalism was occurring, wet balls of toilet paper were also thrown at the ceiling and walls of a different washroom. Investigators believe these two incidents happened between 14:30 and 18:30 on March 26.
Cpl. Mansoor Sahak of the North Vancouver RCMP highlighted the potential consequences of such actions. “These reckless acts of mischief could have caused serious property damage and significant financial loss,” he stated, emphasizing the dangers posed by the fires.
As the investigation continues, the RCMP is urging anyone with information about these incidents to come forward. Individuals can contact the North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311 and reference file number 2025-21203.
The community’s safety remains a top priority for law enforcement, and police are committed to addressing these incidents swiftly. Vandalism not only damages public property but also undermines the sense of security within the community.
