The Michigan Wolverines have successfully added quarterback Colin Hurley from the transfer portal, marking a significant development for the football program. Originally part of the 2025 class, Hurley was a highly regarded five-star prospect, ranked as the No. 3 quarterback in that cycle. The 6-foot-1, 218-pound player from Jacksonville, Florida, reclassified to the 2024 class and signed with LSU, arriving on campus at just 16 years old in January 2024. Although he was listed as a four-star recruit in the 2024 class, he drew attention from numerous prominent programs, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Hurley’s reputation as a talented quarterback began to form during his high school years, where he played for the prestigious Trinity Christian Academy. His abilities shone through as he led the team to a Florida 2A state championship as a freshman. According to 247Sports analyst Andrew Ivins, Hurley demonstrated significant arm talent and mechanical soundness, showcasing a quick release and the ability to generate velocity.

Despite his strengths, analysts noted that Hurley might not fit the mold of a typical dual-threat quarterback. His performance will likely depend on his ability to process plays under pressure, particularly against the formidable pass rushers in the Southeastern Conference (SEC).

With the departures of quarterbacks Jadyn Davis, Davis Warren, and Mikey Keene entering the transfer portal, the Wolverines needed to bolster their quarterback depth.
