Man Charged with Assaulting Two-Year-Old on Christmas Day
A 25-year-old man from Cleveland has been charged with assault and child endangerment following an incident on December 25, 2023, in Richmond Heights, Ohio. The charges stem from a report made by a woman who alleged that her boyfriend assaulted her two-year-old child at her apartment.
Upon investigation, officers contacted the suspect, who provided a conflicting account of the events. The allegations prompted a thorough examination of the circumstances surrounding the incident, leading to the formal charges against him.
Additional Incidents Reported on December 25
On the same day, police responded to multiple reports in the area. One woman reported threats made by the girlfriend of her children’s father during a custody exchange. In an altercation, a windshield wiper arm was reportedly ripped off her vehicle. The incident, involving a 26-year-old woman from Cleveland, is currently under review for potential charges.
Another incident involved a disturbance at the Parkview apartments, where two women clashed over personal belongings after the end of their relationship. One woman was banging on the door to retrieve her items, while the other refused entry. Eventually, both parties reached an agreement, allowing the woman to leave with her belongings.
Further reports included a vehicle theft from the Parkview apartments, where a resident claimed her vehicle was stolen. The woman indicated that her car could not be locked due to prior thefts, which had also damaged the steering column. No suspects have been identified in this case.
Other Notable Incidents
Richmond Heights police also addressed a range of other incidents during the holiday period. On December 23, a resident reported a vehicle break-in at the Parkview apartments, although nothing was stolen. Officers discovered that a rear window had been removed and laid on the pavement, with no suspects identified.
In a separate case on December 25, a resident at Cranleigh Court informed authorities that a man, previously banned from her property, had returned to leave a gift for his son. The 58-year-old man from Pepper Pike admitted he was aware of the ban but proceeded to deliver the gift. Police advised him to turn himself in for trespassing charges, or a warrant would be issued for his arrest.
Additionally, a report was made regarding a 17-year-old girl who allegedly slashed a tire on her grandmother’s vehicle. Although officers did not find her in possession of a knife, they assisted the grandmother in identifying placement options for the girl.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding safety and community issues in Richmond Heights, as local authorities continue to address crime and maintain public order.
