The Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is currently investigating a serious vehicle crash involving a three-wheeled motorcycle, known as a Slingshot, that occurred on January 2, 2026, in Oldsmar, Florida. The incident took place at approximately 18:38 local time and has resulted in life-threatening injuries for one of the drivers involved.

According to investigators, the crash involved a 2021 Slingshot S operated by Rodolfo Ballester Sanchez, a 56-year-old resident of Oldsmar. At the time of the incident, Sanchez was stopped at the intersection of East Lake Woodlands Parkway, preparing to turn east onto Tampa Road. Simultaneously, a 2022 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling northbound on East Lake Club Drive, driven by Kevin Patrick Farrell, 49, also from Oldsmar.

As Sanchez attempted to navigate around a stopped vehicle, he entered the intersection and collided with Farrell’s Corvette, which had the right of way. The impact was significant, leading to Sanchez being transported to the hospital with critical injuries. In contrast, Farrell reported no injuries and remained cooperative with the deputies investigating the scene.
