Kelce Brothers Unveil Ambitious Roller Coaster Concept for Six Flags

The Kelce brothers, famous for their NFL careers, are venturing into the amusement park industry as investors in Six Flags. Travis Kelce, tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, and his brother Jason Kelce, a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles, have announced plans for a groundbreaking roller coaster that aims to combine five unique elements into a single ride. This initiative comes as part of a larger effort to revitalize the Six Flags brand, which has faced challenges in recent years.
During their podcast, “New Heights,” the brothers expressed their excitement about the project. Travis Kelce stated, “I could not pass this opportunity up. We’re going to be a part of the theme parks and amusement parks that rocked our world as kids.” Jason Kelce humorously added, “I’m investing too, brother. I’m just going to keep riding your coattails.” The involvement of activist investors, particularly Jana Partners, is expected to bring fresh energy and ideas to the amusement park chain.
Innovative Features of the Proposed Kelce Coaster
The brothers envision a ride that incorporates features from some of the most thrilling roller coasters in the world. Their design philosophy reflects a passion for unique experiences, drawing inspiration from rides they enjoyed growing up in Ohio.
The proposed “Kelce Coaster” would integrate five distinct elements:
1. **Giga Coaster**: The ride aims to include a significant drop, similar to the legendary Millennium Force at Cedar Point, which boasts a 300-foot drop and speeds of up to 90 miles per hour. Travis Kelce emphasized the need for “a few drops in there, one or two.”
2. **Multiple Inversions**: An essential feature for the coaster is the inclusion of loops. This element would be a rarity for a coaster of this height, as seen in the upcoming Six Flags Over Texas ride, the Tormenta Rampaging Run, which will be the first giga coaster with inversions when it opens in 2026.
3. **Inverted Coaster**: The brothers are also interested in incorporating an inverted design. Travis Kelce highlighted his fondness for rides where “your feet are dangling,” referencing the Raptor coaster at Cedar Point.
4. **Indoor Ride**: A key aspect of the concept is an indoor segment. The brothers believe indoor rides heighten the thrill by disorienting riders about their surroundings. Travis Kelce noted that he has always found indoor coasters to be particularly exciting.
5. **Wooden Coaster**: Jason Kelce proposed that the ride should feature wooden elements to create a unique feel. He mentioned the “dirtiness” and “shakiness” of wooden coasters, which enhance the adrenaline rush.
The Kelce brothers’ vision combines innovative technology with nostalgic elements, aiming to create a ride that pays homage to their childhood experiences at theme parks.
Potential Locations and Future Developments
The proposed Kelce Coaster could find a home in several Six Flags parks, including Six Flags Magic Mountain, Cedar Point, and others across North America. Each location could provide a fitting backdrop for a ride designed to attract thrill-seekers and families alike.
As the brothers continue to develop their concept, they are also considering the ride’s soundtrack. Travis Kelce’s pre-game playlist includes a variety of artists, from AC/DC to Kendrick Lamar. His fiancée, Grammy-winning pop artist Taylor Swift, may also provide inspiration with songs that resonate with themes of speed and excitement.
The Kelce brothers’ involvement with Six Flags represents a bold new chapter for both the amusement park chain and the siblings themselves. With their unique vision and background, they aim to create memorable experiences for families, much like those they cherished during their own childhoods. As plans progress, many will be watching closely to see how this ambitious project unfolds.
