As the festive season approaches, Hillsborough County is taking significant steps to address food insecurity among its residents. The county’s Healthy Living Program has partnered with Feeding Tampa Bay to host a series of food pantry events aimed at ensuring that families can enjoy holiday meals without the stress of limited resources.

These events will provide essential food packages filled with fresh produce, meats, and pantry staples. They are scheduled to occur monthly, with additional distributions planned for November and December to cater to the heightened need during this time. Anyone aged 18 or older, regardless of their income level, is eligible to participate, underscoring the program’s commitment to making nutritious food accessible to all community members.

Upcoming Events and Services

The first of these food distribution events will take place next Thursday at the Lee Davis Healthy Living Center, followed by additional events on Friday at both the Plant City and SouthShore Healthy Living Centers. Information about these events is available on the Healthy Living Program’s official website. These gatherings are open to the public and represent a vital component of the support offered by the Healthy Living Program.

Beyond food distribution, the initiative aims to foster overall health and wellness in the community. Residents will also have free access to exercise rooms and group fitness classes. Additionally, nutrition consultations and monthly educational classes are offered at four Healthy Living Centers throughout Hillsborough County. Those interested in these services can either visit the centers or contact the Healthy Living Program for further details.

The network of support does not stop there. Local resources such as ECHO, the United Food Bank of Plant City, and the St. Anne Catholic Church Food Pantry are also available, providing crucial food and clothing assistance to residents in need across the county.

As the holiday season unfolds, Hillsborough County’s Healthy Living Program and its partners are dedicated to ensuring that no resident faces the holidays without access to adequate nutrition and support. This commitment highlights a broader effort to enhance health and wellness among the community, making the festive season a time of joy and connection for all.
