Craig Sheil Honored as MassCUE Pathfinder at Gillette Stadium
Craig Sheil, an adjunct instructor at Fitchburg State University, has been awarded the prestigious MassCUE Pathfinder Award at the 2025 MassCUE conference held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts. This recognition highlights his significant contributions to the field of educational technology and his inspirational leadership within the educational community.
Recognizing Excellence in Educational Technology
The MassCUE Pathfinder Award is presented annually to educators in Massachusetts who demonstrate exceptional leadership and innovation in integrating technology into education. Sheil shares this honor with Dr. Rayna Freedman, a fifth-grade teacher at Jordan Jackson School in Mansfield. Sheil expressed his gratitude, stating, “It is such an honor to be recognized for this award. I am certainly proud of the work that I have done along my educational journey.”
With over 23 years in public education, Sheil’s career began as a high school mathematics teacher. He transitioned to his current role as a digital learning specialist at Bedford High School in New Hampshire, where he supports faculty in effectively utilizing technology in their teaching strategies.
Impacting Students and Educators Alike
Sheil’s experience in the classroom and his expertise in digital learning allow him to bridge the gap between theory and practice. He noted, “I love that I am able to take learnings from this role and apply it to the classes that I co-teach or teach at Fitchburg State University and vice versa, taking the learnings from the courses and applying them to my role as a digital learning specialist.”
As educational technology continues to evolve, Sheil remains committed to adapting to new challenges. “It certainly is not a dull moment as we continue to navigate this world of AI and what that might look like in the educational setting,” he remarked. His passion for teaching and learning is evident in his ongoing efforts to inspire both students and fellow educators.
The Massachusetts Computer Using Educators (MassCUE) is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting educators who are enthusiastic about digital teaching and learning. Through initiatives like the Pathfinder Award, MassCUE recognizes individuals who significantly enhance the educational landscape through innovative practices.
Sheil’s recognition as a Pathfinder not only honors his past achievements but also highlights the importance of effective technology integration in modern education. His work exemplifies the type of leadership that can inspire and shape the future of teaching.
