Confrontation Over Mirror Leads to Robbery and Assault Arrest
A confrontation over a broken side-view mirror escalated into a robbery and assault in Curtis Bay, Maryland, resulting in the arrest of a 40-year-old man. According to the Anne Arundel County Police, the incident occurred on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at approximately 1:10 p.m.
The conflict began when a juvenile victim and his brother were riding e-scooters on the roadway near Hilltop Road and Waterway Court. A driver, identified as Michael Andrew Lentz, became agitated and yelled at the pair. Following this, Lentz parked his vehicle in front of his residence, where one of the individuals on the e-scooter allegedly broke the side-view mirror of Lentz’s truck.
Lentz then pursued the boys to a nearby pier, where he is accused of forcibly removing the helmet from one of the victims and striking him with it. Following the altercation, Lentz took the victim’s helmet and left the scene.
Police Response and Charges Filed
Responding officers quickly located all individuals involved in the incident. The juvenile on the e-scooter, an 18-year-old man from Pasadena, was cited for destruction of property and subsequently released by the police. In contrast, Lentz, a resident of Curtis Bay, was arrested and charged with robbery and assault.
This incident highlights the potential for minor disputes to escalate into serious altercations. The police urge individuals to resolve conflicts peacefully and avoid confrontation.
