Van Holt remarked that his performance as Wylie Ford allowed him to explore a side of his acting that he described as “channeling my inner douche bag.” He found the experience both creatively fulfilling and therapeutic.

In discussing his approach to the role, Van Holt humorously noted that he aimed to embody the character’s over-the-top nature by asking himself, “How can I be as douchey as possible? To represent something that I don’t really care for?” He mentioned that he conducted what he referred to as “a lot of research” to fully immerse himself in the character’s extravagant lifestyle.

Wylie Ford appeared in a storyline during the second season of Sex and the City as a celebrity heartthrob who briefly dated Charlotte York, portrayed by Kristin Davis. Their relationship quickly soured when Charlotte found herself uncomfortable with Ford’s sexual demands.
