Sei Young Kim Extends Lead to Four Strokes at BMW Ladies Championship
Sei Young Kim has solidified her position at the top of the leaderboard, increasing her lead to four strokes going into the final round of the BMW Ladies Championship. The South Korean golfer achieved this after carding a 3-under 69 on Saturday at Pine Beach Golf Links in Haenam, South Korea. Despite a bogey on the 18th hole, Kim’s three-round total stands at an impressive 19-under 197.
Challengers Close In
Kim’s closest competitors, Yealimi Noh and Nasa Hataoka, are tied for second place at 15-under after shooting rounds of 67 and 69, respectively. Noh’s strong performance has kept her within striking distance, while Hataoka remains a formidable challenger.
American golfer Brooke Matthews faced a setback during her round, triple-bogeying the par-3 15th hole. This costly mistake dropped her six strokes behind Kim, placing her in a tie for fourth after finishing with a score of 74. Defending champion Hannah Green recorded a 68 and is currently at 11-under, eight strokes off the lead, sharing the spot with fellow Australian Minjee Lee, who shot 71 on Saturday. Brooke Henderson also finished with a 71, leaving her nine strokes behind Kim.
Upcoming Events in South Korea
The BMW Ladies Championship marks the beginning of a series of consecutive LPGA tournaments in South Korea. Following this event, the International Crown team event is scheduled for next week. The LPGA’s Asian swing will continue with two more tournaments in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and Japan.
As the final round approaches, all eyes will be on Kim to see if she can maintain her lead and secure the championship title. With only one round left, the competition is heating up, promising an exciting conclusion to the tournament.
